Local Wine & Golden Hour: A Culinary Escape with 1000 Islands Cruises

By Visit Kingston

Food has the power to bring people together, and the right setting can create a lasting memory. Kingston’s vibrant food scene extends beyond the shoreline aboard the Sunset Dinner Cruise, a local favourite, which captures that essence perfectly.

Imagine an evening on the water, live music sets the tone, you’re catching up with friends, and the scenery outside the window is changing. A three-course meal is being prepared for your table, featuring a salad, choice of entrée, and dessert (obviously). Will you be having chicken, with house-made rosemary cream sauce? Or the braised short rib, so tender it melts on the plate. Pair your meal with a signature cocktail or VQA wine from a local Canadian estate.

Departing from the heart of downtown Kingston, the Sunset Dinner Cruise sails up the St. Lawrence River into the 1000 Islands, one of the region’s most picturesque landscapes. While the views are impressive any time of day, evening is particularly special. The sun begins to set and casts a glow over the cottage islands, creating a dance of silhouettes and glimmering light.

Insider tip: there’s an outside deck, enjoy the view from the open-air a few times during the cruise.

The night wraps with music (and sometimes dancing) as the boat makes its way back to harbour. If you’ve never considered a Sunset Dinner Cruise, now is your chance to get out on the water.
