Cruise services

Kingston is perfectly positioned as a key cruise tourism hub along the Great Lakes. With shops, restaurants, and attractions only steps from the dock, Kingston is the ideal port of call for expedition cruises.

Docking for cruise ships 

  • The Kingston Coal Dock allows cruise ships to transfer passengers directly to shore. Dock length 81 metres (265.7 ft).  

  • Water depth ranges from 4.9 metres (16.1 ft) at the dock face to 7.1 metres (23.4 ft) at nine metres out from the dock face. 

  • Nine land and dock 50MT bollards.  

  • Approaches to the dock are clear of obstructions with a minimum depth of 4.6 metres (15 ft) alongside.

Transportation options from the Kingston Coal Dock to accommodations and downtown

    Accessibility dock at Confederation Basin 

    Tenders need to enter at the southern entrance between the breakwall and then proceed to shore. 

    The overall length of the dock is 135ft. The first section (slightly wider) is 44ft and the second section is 91ft. 

    Water depth in that area ranges from 8ft 1inch to 9ft 6inch along the dock. This may change in different seasons of the year. 

    The accessible dock is a registered occasional use marine facility (OUMF) with transport Canada for tender boats to land.

Motorcoach services

Many of our guests choose to visit Kingston by motorcoach – it’s a convenient and affordable way to travel. Kingston offers coach services, bus parking, and bus-friendly accommodations.

    Tour Bus parking is available seasonally at 294 King St. East, in front of the Kingston Custom House, and across the street from Kingston Marriott Hotel.  

    For those visiting Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises, tour buses may drop off passengers at the waterfront and proceed to park the bus in one of the three available spaces located at 294 King St. E.

    Throughout the rest of the city, you may discharge passengers at available metered spaces, or within zones marked “Loading” or “No Parking,” however, no idling or parking is permitted. 

    Pump-out stations are located at Rideau Acres.

    Coach services

    Megabus offers service to Kingston, from Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa. Visit ca.megabus.com 

    From Kingston, Flixbus will serve Toronto, Ottawa, Windsor, and several other cities across the province. Tickets can be purchased at flixbus.ca.
