Internationally acclaimed Canadian organist Alexander Straus-Fausto will present a special organ recital at Chalmers United Church on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. This exciting program, entitled "Drama, Discipline and Divinity," will showcase the full expressive power of the organ—from orchestral grandeur and brilliant virtuosity to moments of profound intimacy and reflection.
The program will feature transcriptions of Wagner's monumental Tannhäuser Overture, Bernstein's sparkling Overture to Candide, and other celebrated works from the organ repertoire. The recital will conclude with Julius Reubke's monumental Sonata on the 94th Psalm, one of the masterpieces of the Romantic organ literature. Written by a gifted pupil of Franz Liszt who tragically died at the age of twenty-four, the work is a dramatic and deeply moving musical interpretation of Psalm 94.
Join us for an afternoon of inspiring music performed by one of Canada's rising concert artists.
Admission is free. All are welcome.
