The "QUTV Afternight Film Network Launch Mixer ” is a late-evening event, held on October 9th at 5:30pm to 8:30pm @ BSE Skateshop + Café, Kingston. The program is designed to bring together students, industry professionals, and the Kingston community in a dynamic and collaborative setting. Organized by Queen’s Television (QUTV), the largest film and media club at Queen’s University, the event is part of QUTV’s new “Create boldly, connect locally, impact globally” initiative.
The evening opens with a casual reception, including a project drop-off booth for sharing ideas and opportunities, followed by a professional & student panel discussion, photo booth, activities and networking mixer. The mixer features industry experts and students with a background in entertainment business, film, acting, journalism in Global News, Warner Bros, Netflix, Branded to Film, Paramount, etc.
Later in the night, the program transitions into a 19+ afterparty at a separate venue. Inspired by the Cannes Film Festival, the afterparty will feature professional DJ sets, immersive visual effects, and a vibrant Y2K theme. Together, these events spotlight Kingston’s growing creative industries while fostering meaningful opportunities for networking, collaboration, and community engagement.
The afterparty is located close to downtown, and will be revealed after tickets have been bought. Although complimentary access with the ticket, admission is restricted to ages 19–25 due to the location being a student neighborhood. Valid student or government ID required at entry. Enjoy music, networking, and a vibrant celebration of creativity.
