7pm: Film Screenings from Kai Thorpe (MTL) & Primordial Freak (LA) with DJ accompaniment by Maria Taifour
Montreal's Kai Thorpe is best known as a member of the band Crasher but tonight he's going to showcase some of his experimental films. We couldn't be more thrilled to have this visual element to our festivities this year. Especially because he's bringing along offerings from collaborator's Primordial Freak out of LA. This will be the perfect way to ease into the night's many offerings on day two of Analogue Island Fest.
8pm: Strip Lacquer
Toronto-based band Strip Lacquer are an act who are comfortable existing in unease. Drawing from art rock experimentation, industrial abrasiveness, and post-punk ethos – Strip Lacquer is an outfit that encompasses sharp emotional songwriting with nuanced dissonance and a diverse sonic palette. Their musical influences include The Birthday Party, Fad Gadget, Malaria!, Chris and Cosey, and Broadcast. Strip Lacquer is laced in a delicate yet murky disposition, shifting seamlessly from amoral to vulnerable, fixated by a desire to dissect the grotesque.
9pm: Theo Vandenhoff
Theo Vandenhoff is a synthpop artist from Toronto who creates infectious and melodramatic pop songs for the painfully lonely. Vandenhoff twists a multitude of influences, mostly from the 70s and 80s, into his own brand of off-kilter synthetic pop music. This wildman has graved the hotel's stage with his band before. I think the locals are still recovering. Don't miss it!
10pm: Queer Karaoke! - all welcome, come sing with us!
Hosted by island locals you know and love. These nights always get wild!
"the best part of my summer every year" - DJ Espresso
DAY 3: SUNDAY, JULY 6TH
We start the day in the gorgeous piano lounge for JAZZ BRUNCH with Tone Map before a moving performance by Danny Sheahan (Wallace) on the hotel's Steinway.
12pm: Tone Map
This hip Toronto Two-Piece cut their chops all over the city's hottest jazz bars and now they're bringing their sounds to Wolfe Island. These genre innovators are not to be missed.
1PM: Wallace
Toronto's Wallace is an electroacoustic composer and musicologist whose dark ambient works pull inspiration from drone and shoegaze music. For his performance, Wallace will utilize the venue's Steinway piano in creating an improvised piece melding electronics, vocals, and the piano.
Then we move outdoors to take in new sounds on our waterfront patio. There you'll find...
3PM Potions
Potions is a freak-folk quartet (Ben Rositsan, Steven Noronha, Josh Sparks, Aidan McConnell) that takes heavy inspiration from improvised music across genres (from electro-acoustic improvisation, to Jazz and its subsidiaries). Arrangements include 3 guitars, percussion and electronic percussion, although instrumentations change frequently. At the centre of the outfit is a deep gratitude to songwriting.
4PM Sandro Perri & Sing Leaf
Take in new and old material from renowned musician and producer Sandro Perri ft. Sing Leaf. We're in for something really special with this performance from our favourite legacy act. This duo will take turns performing songs they have composed, ensuring we round out our weekend with full hearts. Incredible news!! The ferry is back docking in the village!! Simply walk or drive onto the ferry from Kingston and you'll be let off mere steps from the venue. The ferry is free! Schedule: https://www.frontenacislands.ca/en/living-here/ferries.aspx
