Presented by The Cinema Society of Kingston: A Cinema Night’s Dream is an immersive re-imagining of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, pairing live music with indie animation to bring Shakespeare’s beloved comedy vividly to life.Featuring an original score by Jordan Bulhoes, Sam Nicks, John Callahan and Kelsey McNulty, this collaborative fusion from the musicians of MishMash, Nice On, Good Fortune, and Carlo reinterprets all five acts of the play in a dynamic live theatre experience.Directed by Lauren Thomas, the experimental animation explores the magic of vision and dreaming through expressive ink on paper. Audiences will experience the movement, emotion, and nocturnal enchantment of Shakespeare’s words as the boundaries between cinema and dream begin to blur. After intermission, enjoy an encore performance of A New Film Beat, featuring Kristen Kim and band. This third instalment of Lauren’s autobiographical animation series offers an imaginative and personal exploration of how a film projector works.
