The Best Places in Kingston If You’re Craving Chocolate

By Kate Farrell

No matter how our day is going, no matter what is going on in the world; we can all agree that things will be okay as long as there is a dark, delicious, cocoa-creation that exists. That’s right, chocolate. It’s the solution to the worries in your life, the thing that can cheer up even the sourest soul, and the symbol of love used for holidays on end. Are we romanticizing it? Probably. Is it still delicious? One thousand percent.

Kingston is a well-known foodie hub, it’s no surprise that there are those who have dedicated their careers to crafting the finest cocoa for you to indulge in, you just have to know where to look. And luckily, we did that for you. Here are the fine folks in Kingston that are making our days much more delicious, all you have to do is decide which one to go to first!

Cocoa Bistro

840 Development Dr.

Audrey Brown is the mastermind chocolatier behind this local favourite. Her innovative chocolate creations make her a standout among the crowd, with decadent flavours like Limoncello Basil, Vanilla Bean Ganache, Rosemary Honey, and more. She also creates custom orders to please the most selective chocolate connoisseur. Trained at Ecole Chocolat, she uses only the most high-quality Belgian chocolate. If you’re looking for a special, customizable experience (that can even be paired with other local businesses like spas, florists, etc.), make sure to order online or check out their Facebook page to stay updated on their upcoming markets and events.

General Brock’s Commissary

General Brock’s Commissary is the local, wholesome store you can always count on. Steeped in tradition (it’s named after General Sir Isaac Brock and is located just seconds from the original commissary of Upper Canada from the war of 1812), they are known for their amazing, curated collection of specialty foods from artisan cheese, specialty meats and of course, delicious chocolates. Their chocolates come from Ridgeway Confections in Seeley’s Bay, and Mrs. B’s Country Candy, Bellissima. All we can say is thank you for bringing these beautiful treats straight to Kingston!

Did you know that Card’s Bakery can be dated back to the 60’s? Card’s has been run by three generations of women in the family. If this doesn’t make it on of the most trusted places to get chocolate, then I don’t know where! In terms of chocolate, peanut butter cups are a must-try to get those cravings in line. One of the best chocolate is the chocolate zucchini cake! It is the softest, chocolatiest, most moist cake ever.
