Your Guide to New Year’s Eve in Kingston

We are counting down to 2019! Ring in the new year at one of the many fun events happening in and around Kingston this December 31. Whether you have a young family, you’re lucky for a date night or you’re on a budget — there is something here for you. We’ve got your NYE inspiration. Happy New Year!

For The Family

K Town Countdown Skate with your kiddies on the same ice as the beloved Kingston Frontenacs at the Leon’s Centre! The event begins at 5 pm with activities and entertainment for all ages like crafts and games, face painting, live music, magic and more. It all wraps up at 9 pm with fireworks at the Confederation Basin. Perfect for getting the kids to bed at a reasonable time.

Harper’s Burger Bar Kingston’s favourite burger spot is serving up something special for their Kid’s NYE Party. From 5:00 pm – 7:15 pm you and the kids can enjoy a delicious burger and a kid-friendly movie on the screens around the restaurant.

Lumina Borealis A very magical way to end the year with the family. This winter wonderland made up of beautiful digital graphics at Fort Henry will be enjoyed by kids of all ages!

If You’re Feeling Fancy

NYE 2019 Masquerade Ball Yes, you can be your super fancy, mysterious self and celebrate 2019 at a masquerade ball! Travel a little north of Kingston to the Holiday County Manor and say goodbye to 2018 with tunes by Sound On Sound Productions. Tickets are $60 and include a welcome cocktail, appetizers, an 11 pm food table, a midnight bubbly and toast, coat check, parking and door prizes. To avoid drinking and driving or a pricey cab home, try an overnight accommodation package for two for $240+tx. It includes two tickets, one bedroom and New Year’s Day brunch buffet for 2.

BLUMartini Dance the night away to funk and soul music by Jordan John and his All-Star Band at the NYE Black and White Ball. If you’re just planning to party, you can get your tickets for $25 each. If you want to enjoy a nice dinner and then dance it off, tickets are $85 each. Dinner options: Filet mignon wrapped in double smoked bacon and a red wine demi-glaze or nut-crusted Salmon with lemon dill sauce. Roasted red pepper medley and grilled asparagus will be the sides. Entrees will include Salad and Blue Berry cheesecakes for dessert.

New Years Eve Burlesque at Spearhead Brewing Company Ring in the New Year with style, great food, drink and one of the best Burlesque acts you will find in Ontario! Spearhead will be featuring a special cocktail menu for the night in partnership with Chez BonBon and Caper’s Custom Catering providing delicious food. To set the mood, you’ll hit up the Red Carpet for a photo of you and your friends with performers – just in time for a special toast at midnight! Tickets are $95/person or $80/person if you have a group of 10.

New Years Eve Comedy Party Starring Mike Dambra & Friends at Don Cherrys’, start the night with belly laughter and end it on the dance floor for $50 a ticket.

For The Foodie

Kingston restaurants Let’s be honest, the best way to celebrate anything — especially a new year — is with an incredible meal. You can easily find one in the Limestone City, just keep an eye on these places for New Year’s Eve ready menus: Chien Noir, Chez Piggy, Grizzly Grill, Atomica, Tango Nuevo, Olivea, Casa, Dianne’s Fish Shack and Smokehouse and Aqua Terra.

New Year’s Eve Mardi Gras Dinner at Cajun on King Immerse yourself in a Mardi Gras experience with a three-course dinner for $39.99 at Cajun on King located above The Public House. They are also offering a kid’s menu.

If You’re Feeling Frugal

Absolute Comedy Have the last laugh of 2018 with a comedy show. Comedians include Ward Anderson, Josh Williams and Nick Burden. Tickets are $30 each.

Musiikki Cafe New Year’s Eve happens to fall on Monday Jazz night at Musiikki. Starting at 7 pm, arrive and enjoy the live jazz to close 2018.  

Wish on a star in the Dark Sky Viewing Area If you’re feeling especially adventurous, romantic and broke, drive out to Lennox and Addington’s Dark Sky Viewing Area a little north-west of Kingston. The viewing area offers a unique night sky experience very similar to what was available more than 100 years ago. Check the constellations free of any air pollution and perhaps make a wish on a star for 2019.
