NIIGAANI-GICHIGAMI. ONIATARÍ:IO

The performances on this program consider the relationships between land and timbre, and the site of the Isabel Bader Centre itself, situated as it is upon the waters of Niigaani-gichigami / Oniatarí:io (Lake Ontario). This program brings together numerous performers and artists who respond to the design and architecture of the Isabel’s Lobby and Rehearsal Hall, and to the lands upon which the centre is located.

The program will feature a new work including Untitled (for Soundings) by Tanya Lukin Linklater, for violinist Laura Ortman, and dancers Ceinwen Gobert and Danah Rosale. The dancers and violinist read an object—a Yup’ik rain gut parka from St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea—as a visual score that results in their music and movement. This program also features the world premiere of a new collaborative work by Peter MorinJeremy Dutcher, and Bracken Hanuse Corlett.
