Corey Hart’s Never Surrender Tour’ with special guests Glass Tiger at The Leon’s Centre

Corey Hart, who dominated the Canadian pop music scene in the ‘80s, announced Thursday he’s heading out across Canada next summer on the Never Surrender Tour. Hart revealed his first collection of new music in two decades is coming in the form of Dreaming Time Again, a five-song EP produced by fellow Canadian Bob Ezrin. Hart’s 1983’s debut First Offense earned him Juno and Grammy nominations, and he followed it in 1985 with Boy in the Box, which sold more than a million copies in Canada.

In addition to his signature hit, “Sunglasses At Night” (which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100), Hart enjoyed success with the ballad “Never Surrender” as well as “Everything in My Heart” and a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” He also debuted a song called “Another December,” which he said is a tribute to his late mother.

Discovered in the summer of 1984 when a band from Newmarket, Ontario called Tokyo spent two evenings performing before capacity crowds at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens opening for Boy George and Culture Club. Their dynamic original sound captured the moment, and the race to sign them was on. Tokyo, which had become a major force in suburban high schools and the Ontario club circuit, officially became Glass Tiger early the following year when a record deal was finally signed with Capitol Records.

With Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams Aerosmith Ozzy Osbourne) at the helm Glass Tiger was immediately introduced to the recording studio to work on their first album. The Thin Red Line set a record for being the fastest selling debut recording in Canadian history, going gold within weeks of its release. One of Glass Tiger’s many hit singles “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)” yielded a #2 spot on Billboard that was followed by “Someday” which reached #5. Both songs also made Canadian history when Glass Tiger won successive Juno’s a year apart for Single of the Year from the same album.

With 5 Juno awards and a Grammy nomination, 4 multi Platinum Albums, 5 Gold albums,14 hit singles, and over 5 million albums sold, Glass Tiger’s has solidified itself as an Iconic Canadian act.

“Our performances have never been tighter, and we are playing at our highest level ever, we are re-ignited, recharged and looking forward to every show.” Says lead singer Alan Frew.
