Your Guide to the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier

It’s been over 50 years since Kingston last hosted the world’s most famous national curling championship, but now the Brier is back and it should be one of the biggest parties in the city in recent memory. Here’s everything you need to know to get ready.

Road Closures Around the Leon's Centre

Temporary weekday closures of The Tragically Hip Way will take place March 3-5 from 4:30-5:30 pm, 6:30-7:30 pm, and 9:30-10:30 pm.

Full street closure will come into effect March 6 at 10:30 am until March 8 at 11 pm. An alternative accessible event pick-up and drop-off area will be in place on Barrack St.

Kingston Curls 2020 Scarves for Sale!

$20

A limited supply of Kingston Curls 2020 scarves will be for sale at the Visitor Information Centre (209 Ontario Street) starting Friday March 6. Shipping will be available. Scarves will be sold first come, first serve.

Free Kingston Transit

From the start of service on February 28 to the end of service on March 8, Kingston Transit is free for all volunteers and ticket holders. Simply show your ticket or volunteer accreditation when boarding.

The Haunted Walk of Kingston

Haunting locals and newcomers alike, this tour takes you through Kingston’s old Sydenham Ward. It features haunted hotels, hidden burial grounds, grave robbings, hangings at the old courthouse, and Kingston’s famous haunted courtyard. A tried and true favourite for all ages.

Tours are available throughout the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier.

The Brier Patch 

Heated fan zone located across the street from the Leon’s Centre. Opens Feb 28, 7:30 pm. Open daily at 11 am February 29 to March 8. Free entry 

Buffet meal between draws and a concession stand throughout the day featuring sandwiches, hotdogs, pizza, nachos, and more. The area is licensed and serving beer, wine, and liquor. Kingston’s Spearhead Brewing is the official beer partner.   

Entertainment lineup includes local bands Ambush, 80s Enuff, and Turpin’s Trail, along with non-local acts The Carpet Frogs, Leah Daniels, Long Range Hustle, Good Bones, and the Toronto Raptors’ bucket drummers The 6ix Stix.   

Some of the curlers will be at The Patch between draws for autographs and up-close-and-personal sessions.
