Canada's Penitentiary Museum

Explore the history of Canada's federal penitentiaries. The museum is located in the former Warden's residence of Kingston Penitentiary, built by inmate labour between 1870 and 1873.

Kingston WritersFest

Into this vibrant literary environment, Kingston WritersFest was launched in 2006 by a core group of dedicated and hardworking volunteers under the auspices of Kingston Frontenac Public Library and Kingston Literacy.

Kingston By Fork

This 2-hour walking tour begins at the historic Kingston Public Market in Springer square and highlights the vibrant local food community in the downtown area. We will be stopping in the Farmer's Market, as well as local stores and restaurants. You will learn about the many local farmers and producers in and around Kingston, as well as the agricultural initiatives in the city, and the restaurants and establishments that support local food.

The K&P Trail

The K&P Trail is a 15 km multi-use, semi-urban and rural trail extending from the Little Cataraqui Creek to Orser Road.

It is ideal for a variety of recreational uses including walking, hiking, cycling, horse-back riding, and cross-country skiing and provides for a range of scenic experiences with its open landscape, rock cuts and wetlands.

Cathcart Martello Tower

Located on the western tip of Cedar Island, which forms part of St. Lawrence Islands National Park of Canada, this fortification consists of a Martello tower, surrounded by a shallow ditch and, in turn, encompassed by a glacis extending to the shoreline on three sides.

Fairfield House and Park

Built by the United Empire Loyalist William Fairfield in 1793, the building has been restored to its original Georgian style by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission. The Fairfield House is situated on several acres of park with a playground, picnic tables and barbeque area.
